The GFF supports country-led efforts to improve the timely use of data for decision-making, ultimately leading to stronger primary healthcare (PHC) systems and better reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and nutrition (RMNCAH-N) outcomes.

Primary Health Care (PHC) is the cornerstone of health systems, helping ensure health care is universally accessible, improving quality of life, and reducing health inequalities.

Undernutrition is a silent crisis impacting millions of children and women globally. Despite progress, alarming statistics from 36 GFF partner countries in 2022 reveal that 76.5 million children were stunted, 17.8 million were wasted, and 9.8 million were overweight. Women of reproductive age face high rates of anemia, and many newborns suffer from low birth weight. Addressing double burden of nutrition of malnutrition is essential to achieving global nutrition targets by 2030.

Since 2015, the GFF has supported partner countries to prioritize key health systems and financing reforms that will accelerate progress on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) as part of a broader effort to improve health outcomes for women, children, and adolescents.

The GFF supports countries to compile and report on complete and timely data for monitoring maternal, newborn, child health and stillbirths, a fundamental requirement to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Global Financing Facility (GFF) has prioritized the strengthening of civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems with the aim of improving data sources for tracking and ultimately improving the health and well-being of women, children and adolescents.

GFF’s 2020-2025 strategy recognizes both the advancement of gender equality and a relentless focus on results as two of its five core priorities.

Since the inception of the GFF, supporting health financing reforms has been a critical part of its mission. The core objectives of the GFF's health financing agenda are to increase both, the volume and efficiency of domestic public resources for health.

Working closely with country partners and World Bank task teams to use data to allocate IDA toward the highest impact interventions for women, children and adolescents is a key part of the theory of change of the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children, and Adolescents (GFF). The GFF therefore conducts regular analyses to monitor changes in International Development Assistance (IDA) commitments to Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH-N) across its supported countries.
