Introduction
Primary Health Care (PHC) is the cornerstone of health systems, helping ensure health care is universally accessible, improving quality of life, and reducing health inequalities. A well-functioning PHC system can meet the majority of an individual's health needs over their lifetime, providing comprehensive, integrated, and coordinated care.
Our goal here is to provide clear, insightful, and interactive data visualizations to help policymakers, health practitioners, researchers, and interested public understand the status and trends of PHC within and across different countries. We believe that data, when correctly interpreted and utilized, can be a powerful tool for positive change and improvement.
The approach to collection and compilation of data presented here, is comprehensive, and thorough. The indicators compiled, represent the primary health care monitoring framework and indicators (PHCMF&I) for which there is a publicly available and globally comparable data sources. The presented data are calculated and represent globally standardized data sources, including but not limited to Demographic Health Surveys (DHS), Multiple Indicators Cluster Surveys (MICS), Service provision assessment (SPA) surveys, Service delivery Indicators (SDI) in addition to global health indicators and databases from WHO, UNICEF and the World Bank. We encourage you to engage with our platform and explore the data.
National Snapshots
National-level indicators provide an essential snapshot of how well health services are being delivered and accessed. In this section, you'll find a broad overview of selected national-level PHC indicators in accordance with the PHC measurement framework and indicators, facilitating year-on-year comparisons. Users can navigate through the data using drop-down menus to select specific countries, domains, and subdomains. For composite indicators, there is ‘plus’ option, which allows for a detailed view of specific tracer items within each indicator.
Equity Breakdowns
Equity breakdowns offer a nuanced view of primary health care indicators, highlighting disparities and inequalities within health systems. By examining these indicators across various demographic segments, such as economic status, education levels, types of residence, and facility categories, the platform reveals the diverse health care experiences and challenges faced by different groups of a country’s population. It features two distinct panels: a population panel which presents trends and values in population-based data, and a facility panel which focuses on current facility-level data, shedding light on aspects like infrastructure, service availability and quality of service delivery.
Data Query
In this section, you have the option to filter PHC indicators by country, year, domains, and subdomains to find the data most relevant to your needs. Additionally, you can easily download the queried data for your own analysis or reporting purposes.
How to Use Data Query
Through data query, you have the option to apply your filters to GFF countries or all countries. In each query, you can select up to 10 countries and 5 years. You can further refine your query by choosing specific domains and subdomains . After making your selections, click "Apply" to filter the data accordingly. To reset your filters, use the "Reset Filters" button. Once you've tailored your query, you can download the dataset based on your specific filters. Alternatively, you can download the entire PHC dataset using the button below.
